Summary

"Athelstane Ford" by Allen Upward is a thrilling historical novel set in a time of privateers and adventure, where a young man named Athelstane Ford, dissatisfied with his quiet life, jumps at the chance to join his cousin Rupert's crew on the "Fair Maid". This choice plunges him into a world of danger and wealth on the high seas, fraught with challenges like betrayal and rivalry, pulling him far away from his predictable life in Brandon. Initially yearning for change and excitement, Athelstane soon has to navigate the complexities of loyalty versus his own ambitions and self-preservation in a world where morality is constantly tested.
