Summary

"Robert Annys: Poor Priest. A Tale of the Great Uprising" by Annie Nathan Meyer is a story set in 14th-century England that follows Robert Annys, a priest dedicated to helping the poor, as he navigates a world of social unrest and a troubled Church. He stands before Ely Minster in 1379, a humble figure questioning his place in the world, and reflecting on the teachings of his mentor, John Wyclif. Annys is troubled by the divide between the Church's wealth and the suffering of the common people and drawn to the revolutionary ideas of John Ball. Witnessing this contrast inspires him to become a voice for change, embarking on a journey as a reformer committed to fighting injustice and standing up for those who are downtrodden.
