Summary

** "In Flanders Fields, and Other Poems" by John McCrae is a set of emotional poems written during World War I. These poems are about tough topics like death, giving everything for a cause, and the strength of people, with the famous poem "In Flanders Fields" as a guide. McCrae, who was both a doctor and a soldier, shows a strong feeling of sadness and duty through his writing, likely from what he saw in the war. The book starts with his well-known poem, which paints a picture of war cemeteries with poppies and the voices of dead soldiers asking the living to keep fighting. This poem creates a contrast with nature, where larks sing in the sky even with the sounds of war all around, showing what McCrae will look at with sadness, braveness, and the memory of soldiers, making readers think about the results of war. **
