Arctic angels

"Arctic Angels" by A. DeHerries Smith is an adventure story set in the Arctic Northwest, where survival is a daily struggle. Sergeant Richard Cleaver of the Northwest Mounted Police faces tough choices as he tries to help starving Eskimos while dealing with a dishonest trader named Scarth. Cleaver is torn between his duty and the desperate need to find food, especially after discovering Scarth's cruelty to his own huskies. To keep his word to the Eskimos, the sergeant hunts walrus, leading to a showdown with Scarth and a series of funny but serious events that test his courage and honesty. In the end, Cleaver succeeds in providing food for both the Eskimos and the dogs, showing that even in the harshest conditions, compassion can win.
