Summary

"Records" by Admiral of the Fleet, Lord Fisher is a memoir offering a look into the author's life in the navy and his thoughts on how wars should be fought, especially by the British navy. He shares interesting stories from his own life and what he noticed happening around him. The book starts by talking about Fisher's family, with funny stories and thoughts, and then moves on to his early days in the Navy. He describes the hard training and tough life on ships, giving readers a clear idea of what it was like to be a sailor back then. This beginning not only shows what Fisher was like as a person but also sets the stage for the bigger ideas about leading and planning in naval battles that he will talk about later in the book.

About the Author

Admiral of the Fleet John Arbuthnot Fisher, 1st Baron Fisher,, commonly known as Jacky or Jackie Fisher, was a British Admiral of the Fleet. With more than sixty years in the Royal Navy, his efforts to reform the service helped to usher in an era of modernisation which saw the supersession of wooden sailing ships armed with muzzle-loading cannon by steel-hulled battlecruisers, submarines and the first aircraft carriers.
