"A Message from the Sea" by Charles Dickens is a tale from the Victorian era that looks at family, love, and doing what's right, through the lives of a young fisherman named Alfred Raybrock, his sweetheart Kitty, and Captain Jorgan. The Captain shows up with a message in a bottle that changes everything. The story starts when Captain Jorgan meets Alfred and Kitty in the pretty village of Steepways. He becomes their friend and then tells them about a message he found in a bottle from the sea. The message tells them what happened to Alfred's older brother, Hugh, who has been missing since a shipwreck. Now, Alfred and Kitty have to deal with a big inheritance that has a history of dishonesty. Alfred has to decide if he should protect his family's reputation while also loving Kitty. In the end, fate and forgiveness come together to give them a new future.
