Summary

A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens is a historical story that kicks off during a time of big social and political problems in France. The book starts with a guy named Mr. Lorry traveling to pick up a doctor who was locked up for a long time, but is now being "recalled to life." Right away, the story shows how different life was in England compared to France, especially how tough things were for regular people. As Mr. Lorry makes his way on a stagecoach, he gets a secret message about the doctor. When he gets to Paris, things feel tense because of a wine shop run by Madame Defarge, which represents the growing anger about to explode into a revolution. The story links the characters together as challenges arise, hinting at a big struggle for what's fair when others are being treated badly.
