"Shakespeare's Family" by C. C. (Charlotte Carmichael) Stopes, is a study that explores the family history of William Shakespeare by tracing his ancestry, especially through the Arden family line. Instead of looking at his plays or poems, the book digs into the roots of Shakespeare’s family, clearing up confusion and fixing mistakes about where he came from. The author starts by explaining that the book is a revised and expanded version of earlier writings about Shakespeare’s family tree, aiming to prove the good social standing of Shakespeare's ancestors and set the record straight about his background, looking at the Shakespeare name itself, its old origins, and where the early Shakespeares lived and were important in Warwickshire.
