About the Author

Samuel de Champlain was a French explorer, navigator, cartographer, draftsman, soldier, geographer, ethnologist, diplomat, and chronicler. An important figure in Canadian history, Champlain created the first accurate coastal map during his explorations and founded various colonial settlements.
