Summary

"Lectures on the Science of Language" by F. Max Müller is a collection of talks given in Great Britain during the 1800s that looks at language using science; it studies how language works, how it changed over time, and why it's important to people and societies. Müller explains in the opening lectures that he wants to show how language should be studied using science. The book also describes the difficulties in understanding the history of language. He argues that exploring the science of language is very important because it can help us understand ourselves. His goal is to show other scientists how important language is and how it can show us important truths about being human, going deeper than just the words we speak.
