Summary

"Eyes Like the Sea" by Mór Jókai is a story from the late 1800s about a young man and his powerful feelings for a girl called Bessy. He thinks her eyes are like the sea, and right away, the story pulls us into their world of growing up, wanting to be someone, and trying to find love. Their adventure starts at a dance lesson with Monsieur Galifard, where the main character, around sixteen, figures out how he feels about Bessy. As they dance, the reader can feel the mix of young love, dreams of the future, and trying to find their place under the expectations of social status and personal hope.
