Summary

** "Tales and Novels of J. de La Fontaine — Volume 09" by Jean de La Fontaine is a compilation of 17th-century short stories with valuable life lessons. Included are "Belphegor", "The Little Bell", and "The Glutton", all exploring love, folly, and what's wrong with society. "Belphegor" follows a demon who learns marriage on Earth is full of trouble and runs back to where he came from. "The Little Bell" tells of a boy who falls for a girl, only to be disappointed. "The Glutton" is a funny story about a sturgeon being eaten by a man who eats too much, with bad results. Through these tales, La Fontaine shows us just how mixed up humans can be, the dangers of having too much, and funny truths about the bad things in society. **
