Summary

"The Siege of Norwich Castle: A story of the last struggle against the Conqueror" by M. M. Blake is a historical fiction set after the Norman Conquest, where Saxon lords clash with Norman nobles. A romance sparks between Emma Fitzosbern, the Earl of Hereford's ward, and Ralph de Guader, the Earl of East Anglia. Their connection faces strong opposition from the Conqueror, setting up a tense political landscape. This opening lays the foundation for a plot that weaves love, loyalty, and ambition together against the backdrop of a nation wrestling with conflict, symbolized early on by a fortune-telling scene that hints at personal and political struggles.
