"The Food of the Gods and How It Came to Earth" by H. G. Wells is a science fiction story from the late 1800s. The book follows Mr. Bensington and Professor Redwood, two scientists who find a special substance, called Herakleophorbia, that makes things grow really big and strong, possibly with huge effects. At the start, the book shows Bensington and Redwood living normal lives as scientists until they accidentally find this amazing food, which they jokingly call the Food of the Gods, which causes many considerations of its possible uses. The two scientists eagerly talk about what their discovery could do, giving clues about the amazing and messy situations that will arise from their invention.

About the Author

Herbert George Wells was an English writer, prolific in many genres. He wrote more than fifty novels and dozens of short stories. His non-fiction output included works of social commentary, politics, history, popular science, satire, biography, and autobiography. Wells' science fiction novels are so well regarded that he has been called the "father of science fiction".
