Summary

"Essay on the Creative Imagination" by Th. Ribot is a scholarly exploration into the nature of creativity, particularly imagination, a concept the author believes has been neglected in psychological studies. It examines the mechanics of creative thought, from its emotional roots to its physical expressions, aiming to clarify how original thoughts come to life. The initial sections feature introductions from both the translator and the author, highlighting the importance of studying creative imagination as a key aspect of psychology. Ribot points out the relative lack of attention paid to creative imagination compared to reproductive imagination and sets out to investigate its different facets, with a special emphasis on motor and emotional influences, as well as its role in both practical problem-solving and artistic creation, ultimately enriching the psychological field with its insights.
