Summary

"Bygones Worth Remembering, Vol. 2 (of 2)" by George Jacob Holyoake is a historical compilation that captures the spirit of the late 1800s by looking at important people like Mr. Gladstone and Herbert Spencer. Holyoake's writing gives an honest view of the political and philosophical ideas of his time by exploring what these people did for society and the complicated parts of who they were. The book starts with exciting stories of Holyoake talking to big thinkers like Mr. Gladstone, and it shows their personalities and beliefs. One story describes a memorable breakfast with Gladstone, filled with smart talk and funny stories that show how clever and informed Gladstone was. Holyoake thinks about how important these talks were, pointing out how much these people affected the thinking and politics of the time.
