Summary

"The Growth of the English House" by J. Alfred Gotch is a journey through time, exploring how houses in England changed from 1100 to 1800. The book looks at how English homes turned from simple fortresses into comfortable places to live by discussing different styles of architecture and how people lived in them. The earliest houses were like strong castles and the book explains how these buildings slowly became more like the homes we live in today.
