Summary

"A Heroine of France: The Story of Joan of Arc" by Evelyn Everett-Green is a historical narrative about Joan of Arc, a peasant girl who rises to become a central figure in France's fight for freedom during the Hundred Years' War. It explores her experiences with visions and her religious conviction, themes of bravery, fate, and faith as she motivates the Dauphin to take back the throne. Knights lamenting France's decline meet the tale of a young woman who claims God selected her to be France's savior, with Jean de Novelpont learning of the maid's mission to meet the king. Joan presents herself as beautiful, pious, and fervent while a conviction surrounds her noble cause. The story introduces Joan and the large challenges she needs to conquer as she embarks on her very important quest.
