Summary

"Life of Tecumseh, and of His Brother the Prophet" by Benjamin Drake is a historical biography that chronicles the lives of two Shawanoe brothers who strived to unite Native American tribes against westward expansion of settlers. Presenting a record gathered from years of meticulous research that details their early lives, the book sketches the intricate history of the the Shawanoe people by describing their most important historical figures, and their struggles against displacement, framing the narrative within broader themes of indigenous resistance, brotherhood, cultural adaptation, historical context, and the desire for unity during a period greatly affected by the expansion of the United States and the resistance against this expansion.
