Summary

"Marcia Schuyler" by Grace Livingston Hill is a story that follows a young woman on the brink of adulthood as she struggles with what her family expects of her versus what she wants for herself, all against the backdrop of her sister's wedding. The reader sees the world through Marcia's eyes as she deals with themes of affection, giving up some of what you want, and figuring out who you are while living in a time with strong social rules. The story starts with Marcia picking blackberries and dreaming of owning a beautiful dress, but her dream is clouded by her stepmother's behavior and her feelings for the man her sister is about to marry. As the wedding plans fall apart, Marcia's hidden feelings cause trouble, which means Marcia will probably change a lot as the story goes on.
