"Within These Walls" by Rupert Hughes is a historical novel that takes place during a cholera outbreak in New York City. The book follows David RoBards and his new wife, Patty Jessamine, as they run away from the disease and try to find a safe place to live. As the couple leaves the city, there is a lot of fear. The story looks at what it was like to live during this difficult time in America, showing how people dealt with love, trying to survive, and the problems in society.
