Summary

"In Wild Rose Time" by Amanda M. Douglas, is a story set in the late 1800s about Virginia Deering, who, while dealing with her own sadness, meets two poor young girls, Dilsey and Bess, living in a tough neighborhood that are cheered up by a gift of wild roses. The roses are a symbol of, not only beauty, but hope for a better life too. During hard times of poverty, they share love and dreams while trying to make their lives better. This novel shows how people can be strong even when things are really difficult, when Virginia's kind heart takes over and she buys roses from the poor girl she meets. The beginning shows the differences between the characters' lives by focusing on the girls' innocence.
