Summary

"The Eagle Cliff" by R. M. (Robert Michael) Ballantyne is a late 19th-century novel that follows John Barret, a young man whose cycling accident with an elderly lady triggers an unforeseen adventure. He and his friends set sail on a yacht to explore the British coast, but disaster strikes in the form of a dense fog that damages their vessel. Seeking refuge, they stumble upon a secluded residence where they encounter a young artist named Milly. This chance meeting sparks unexpected relationships and challenges for John, setting the stage for a story centered around themes of courage, guilt, and the powerful desire for adventure, all while painting a vivid picture of the spirited cyclist and foreshadowing the trials he will face.
