Summary

"Relativity: The Special and General Theory" by Albert Einstein is a book from the early 1900s that explains new ideas about space, time, and gravity. It tries to make these complicated ideas easier to understand, even if you're not a math expert, but are curious about the science and philosophy behind them. At the start, Einstein shares his goal of making tough topics understandable to everyone. The book starts by going over basic ideas about shapes and how we measure things, to help understand the main ideas of relativity. It talks about how things move and look different depending on how you're watching them, questioning old ideas about space and time being the same for everyone, which then prepares you for the more complex parts later on.

About the Author

Albert Einstein was a German-born theoretical physicist who is widely held as one of the most influential scientists. Best known for developing the theory of relativity, Einstein also made important contributions to quantum mechanics. His mass–energy equivalence formula E = mc2, which arises from special relativity, has been called "the world's most famous equation". He received the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics "for his services to theoretical physics, and especially for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect", a pivotal step in the development of quantum theory.
