Summary

"The Confession of a Child of the Century — Volume 3" by Alfred de Musset is a story about love and doubt in the 1800's. It follows Octave and his journey with Brigitte as they try to run away, heal, and find a fresh start in Geneva. Their dreams of happiness hit a wall when letters from Brigitte's troubled family cause her to become sick with worry. Octave, watching Brigitte's silent suffering, grows worried and starts to distrust her. The story focuses on their fragile connection as they fight old memories and the fear of what could go wrong, and it really looks at the pain, jealousy, and complicated feelings that come with love tested to its limits. Right away, the story makes you think about what's going on inside the characters' heads and how hard it is to stay true to someone you love.
