Summary

"A Passage to India" by E. M. Forster is a story that takes place in India when the British ruled. It shows what it was like when people from different cultures tried to understand each other, especially between an Indian doctor, Aziz, and an Englishwoman, Mrs. Moore. The story starts in Chandrapore, a made-up city in India, where you can clearly see the difference between how the Indian people live and how the British colonists live. Aziz meets Mrs. Moore at a mosque, which is a big moment because it shows how hard it is for people from different backgrounds to connect, but also that it's possible. Through Aziz's thoughts and his relationships with English people, the book looks at the problems and connections that come with living in a place ruled by another country.
