Summary

"The Story of the Rhinegold (Der Ring des Nibelungen) Told for Young People" by Anna Alice Chapin is a rendition of a much older German story, sharing tales of gods, dwarfs, and magical treasures in a way that's easy for kids to understand. This story looks at what happens when people want power too much, and how being greedy can cause big problems, and it begins with the special Rhinegold, watched over by the Rhine maidens, that can make anyone powerful, and there's Alberich, the dwarf, who steals the gold, and his actions lead to a curse that affects everyone, from the gods to mythical creatures, showing how love, longing, and the quest for control can change everything.
