Summary

"Revelations of Divine Love" by Julian of Norwich is a spiritual exploration from the 1300s that stands as one of the earliest English books written by a woman. It shares deep understandings of God's love and kindness, using the author's own experiences. The story is about a number visions Julian had when she was sick, and it looks at God's love, Christ's suffering, and what it means to be human. At the beginning, Julian tells us who she is then speaks to us on her relationship with God. She writes about the time she received fourteen special visions. These visions show her encounters with Christ's Passion and the divine, teaching about trust, love, and the hard topics of sin and suffering. Julian sees herself as a simple, uneducated person but expresses a strong wish to know and understand God better. Her writing discusses big religious ideas and aims to comfort and guide those who want to find love and kindness in their lives.

About the Author

Julian of Norwich, also known as Juliana of Norwich, the Lady Julian, Dame Julian or Mother Julian, was an English anchoress of the Middle Ages. Her writings, now known as Revelations of Divine Love, are the earliest surviving English-language works attributed to a woman. They are also the only surviving English-language works by an anchoress.
