Summary

"The Mind of the Child, Part II" by William T. Preyer is a study of how kids' brains grow, especially their thinking skills and how they learn to talk. This continues Preyer's earlier research, looking at how much of a kid's intelligence comes naturally and how much comes from what they experience. The book starts by saying that kids can think and learn even before they can talk, which goes against what many people thought back then. Preyer talks about the different steps kids go through as they grow smarter, explaining how they start remembering things and thinking logically before they even know many words. By watching his own child closely and looking at other studies, Preyer shows that what kids see, hear, and touch is super important for how their brains develop, setting the stage for understanding how they learn to speak later on.
