Summary

"In Exitu Israel: An Historical Novel, Volume 1" by S. Baring-Gould is a story set in France just before the Revolution, following Thomas Lindet, a priest in the town of Bernay. Lindet is troubled by the unfair treatment of his people by the powerful church and nobles. The story reveals the difficulties faced by the townspeople and how Lindet, a man of strong beliefs who is frustrated by the social injustice, decides to address the issues because he is concerned about the hardship they face. His growing unease with the established system pushes him toward confronting the bishop to seek meaningful changes for his community, all while the looming threat of revolution hangs in the air because society is unequal and fed up.
