Summary

"History of the United Netherlands from the Death of William the Silent to the Twelve Year's Truce, 1584-85" by John Lothrop Motley is a story told from the 1800s about Europe in the late 1500s. It's about the Netherlands' battles after William the Silent died, watching as England and France get involved. Queen Elizabeth I has to decide if she'll help the Netherlands, who are trying to be free. There are lots of different groups of people who have their own ideas, especially leaders in Holland and their relationships with England and France. This is all about how hard it was for the Netherlands to become free and practice their own religion, with Spain ready to attack at anytime.
