Summary

"Uncle Bernac: A Memory of the Empire" by Arthur Conan Doyle is a historical fiction where a young exile, Louis de Laval, journeys back to France and is thrust into a world of political schemes during Napoleon's ascent to power. After receiving a mysterious letter from his uncle, C. Bernac, Louis is called back home, but is also warned with a cryptic message. Navigating family reunions and the ever-changing political landscape, Louis finds himself surrounded by danger and moral questions, especially in his complicated relationship with his uncle. Upon landing on the French coast during a storm, the past intertwines with escalating threats causing him to stumble through welcoming cottages and secret conspiracies threatening the very fabric of the Empire.
