Summary

"At Pinney's Ranch" by Edward Bellamy is a story about love and misjudgment. This story, set in 1898, follows John Lansing, a man wrongly accused of murder, as he flees west, leaving behind his wife, Mary, and their children. After three difficult years, he prepares to return, only to discover Mary plans to remarry for the sake of their children. Lansing makes a desperate mental attempt to stop the wedding, and somehow, Mary is influenced to halt the ceremony. The novel explores the strength of love, the weight of what others think, and a supernatural connection between John and Mary that goes beyond distance, all while leaving readers to ponder the true nature of their bond.
