Summary

Aunt Jane's Nieces and Uncle John, written by L. Frank Baum, is a heartwarming story about the adventures of three young girls, Patsy Doyle, Beth De Graf, and Myrtle Dean, under the care of their uncle, John Merrick. The story begins with Patsy's rescue of a puppy, Mumbles, from an abusive situation, which sets the tone for their caring and adventurous nature. When Myrtle, a poor and injured girl, joins the group, they take her under their wing and show her kindness and compassion. As they embark on a journey across the country, they face various challenges, including encounters with remittance men and wild coyotes, but ultimately find joy and beauty in the California landscape.
