Summary

"Aunt Jane's Nieces Abroad" by L. Frank Baum is a continuation of a series, following the escapades of three young women, Patsy Doyle, Beth De Graf, and Louise Merrick, as they travel through Europe alongside their peculiar yet affluent Uncle John Merrick. The story emphasizes the excitement of venturing into the unknown, the power of connection, and the journey of finding oneself as the heroines immerse themselves in unfamiliar societies and cultures, and experience the world beyond their homes. The adventure starts with Uncle John's spontaneous plan for a European vacation, a decision that startles Patsy and her father, Major Doyle, resulting in Patsy joining Uncle John on this overseas exploration. The initial parts of the story show their voyage on a ship, the people they meet, and their initial experiences in Naples, which includes dealing with a volcanic eruption, showing their true selves, and building relationships in anticipation of future Italian adventures.
