Summary

"The Works of Charles and Mary Lamb — Volume 5" by Charles Lamb is a collection of letters that acts as a window into the lives of the Lamb siblings in the late 1700s to the early 1800s. Composed of personal correspondence that includes finance, friendship, family and literary works, the letters illustrate the bond between a brother and sister. Beginning with the preface, this edition captures the intricacies of copyright and the importance of written correspondence, followed by a letter to S.T. Coleridge dated May 27, 1796, providing a personal account of Lamb's monetary status, social circle, creative ambition, and a sonnet for his sister. The tone of this volume illustrates details of the brother and sister's connection, as well as a glimpse into their creative spirit.
