Summary

"The Triumph Of Night" by Edith Wharton is a gripping novella set in the chilling landscape of early 20th-century New Hampshire, that explores the dark themes of solitude, destiny, and the intricate web of human morality. When George Faxon arrives at the isolated Northridge Junction, a twist of fate leads him to Overdale, the opulent home of John Lavington and his vulnerable nephew, Frank Rainer. As a winter night unfolds, an unnerving tension grows, with Rainer seemingly in grave danger. Faxon's sense of unease escalates when he sees a threatening figure shadowing Lavington, a sight that forces Faxon to confront the burden of his choices and the devastating outcome of his inaction, which may have tragically sealed a young man's grim destiny.
