"The Boy from the Ranch; Or, Roy Bradner's City Experiences" by Frank V. Webster is a story about Roy Bradner, a young cowboy from a Colorado ranch, whose life takes an unexpected turn when he must travel to New York City. He's pulled away from his familiar ranch duties because of his father's health and the need to sort out a complicated business deal involving his late uncle's property. Leaving behind the open spaces of the ranch, Roy finds himself on a train headed for an entirely different world filled with challenges, new acquaintances, and tricky situations; while in the city he must deal with possible fraud and learn to navigate the city's unfamiliar streets alongside a new friend, Mortimer De Royster.
