Summary

"Dutch the Diver; Or, A Man's Mistake" by George Manville Fenn is a story that takes place in a lively coastal town and features Dutch Pugh, a diver, as he tries to balance his risky job and relationships with his wife, his boss, and a strange man from Cuba. The book explores themes of jealousy, wanting more in life, and trying to keep work and home life separate. The story begins by showing us Dutch talking with an experienced diver named Rasp, giving us a peek into their personalities and the challenges of their work, while also hinting at future problems for Dutch. As Dutch thinks about his career opportunities, it’s clear that he's worried about problems he hasn't solved with his family. The arrival of a charming stranger makes these worries even bigger, creating tension and suspicion that suggest coming fights as Dutch deals with his goals and worries about his marriage and family.
