Summary

"Cambridge Papers" by W. W. Rouse Ball is a compilation of essays that explore the history of Trinity College and Cambridge University. These writings, created over a quarter-century for student groups and publications, highlight events from the early 1900's and the local area and people connected to the university, such as Isaac Newton. The book starts by discussing the reasons behind Trinity College's founding by Henry VIII in 1546, looking at the colleges that came before it, the funding needed, and the king's desire to stop heresy and encourage education. It lays the groundwork for understanding the college's beginnings, outlining the rules and how students lived at the time.
