Summary

"The Man Who Couldn't Sleep" by Arthur Stringer is a story about Witter Kerfoot, a Canadian author celebrated for his Alaskan adventures, even though he's never been there. Living in high society, Kerfoot’s life starts to fall apart because of his lying. He begins to lose sleep and his mind starts to become unstable. The story follows Kerfoot as he tries to deal with the pressures of society and his own goals. He loves Mary Lockwood, a rich woman who pushes him to write more genuine stories. When Kerfoot is caught up in a violent event, his life spins out of control. He must confront his choices during a night full of chaos and understanding, as he reflects on the deceit that has defined his path.
