Summary

It begins on a summer day in Connecticut when Geoffrey Yorke, possibly a soldier, gets lost in enemy territory, meanwhile, sisters Betty and Moppet are gathering herbs, when an accident throws them together when Moppet falls into a pond, with Geoffrey's help. The story shows the start of love, loyalty, and sacrifices made during war.
