Summary

"Minkie" by Louis Tracy is a turn-of-the-century novel about a bright young girl whose Christmas Eve takes a turn when a puzzling visitor, Mr. Schwartz, arrives. We meet Minkie and her family through the eyes of their horse as they prepare for Mr. Schwartz’s arrival, whose past in West Africa brings with it an air of suspense and a strange item called a ju-ju; as Minkie interacts with her animal friends, including a terrier called Dandy and a cat named Tibbie, her quick wit and sarcastic humor hint at her ability to handle complications that may arise, implying themes of friendship and bravery. This is just the start of an odd adventure where Minkie's cleverness will be tested as she handles unexpected challenges with a touch of family warmth.
