"The Mentor: Makers of American Fiction, Vol. 6, Num. 14, Serial No. 162, September 1, 1918" by Arthur Bartlett Maurice is a collection shining a light on the storytellers who sculpted American literature in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Think of it as a hall of fame dedicated to authors like Booth Tarkington, Jack London, Robert W. Chambers, and Richard Harding Davis, whose writings mirror a nation finding its voice. It walks the reader through the authors' lives, the moments that lit up their imaginations, and how their most famous works made their marks, and the most common ideas and how writing changed during that time. It's a snapshot of American fiction's growth, honoring the writers' contributions while offering guidance to those who dream of telling their own great American stories.
