"From Now On" by Frank L. Packard is a story about Dave Henderson, a man caught up in gambling and horse racing, who finds himself at a crossroads when presented with an opportunity to take a huge sum of money from a rich man named Martin K. Tydeman. The novel examines the pull of temptation, questions of right and wrong, and how the decisions we make shape our lives. The story begins with Dave facing Bookie Skarvan, who begs him to take cash from Tydeman because of his gambling debts. As Dave considers what to do, he thinks about the problems he's overcame in the past and the appeal of the money.
