Summary

"A Spaceship Named McGuire" by Randall Garrett is a science fiction story that plunges into a world where robotic spaceships are not just machines, but potential game-changers in human endeavors; a troubleshooter named Daniel Oak is summoned by the brilliant Shalimar Ravenhurst to unravel a web of sabotage targeting his fleet, particularly the advanced spaceship, McGuire. As Oak investigates, he encounters the Ravenhurst's daughter, Jaqueline, who harbors ambitions of her own and finds herself connecting with McGuire in unexpected ways. The spaceship itself starts displaying startling, almost human-like behaviors, influenced by Jaqueline’s interactions, adding layers of complexity to Oak's mission as he races against time to neutralize the threats and secure McGuire's future.
