"The S. P. Mystery" by Harriet Pyne Grove is a tale about a group of young girls who create a secret club full of adventure and mystery. Headed by Jean Gordon, the girls are determined to create a special place for themselves in the attic, where they will experience exciting adventures and strengthen their friendships. When Jean gets permission to use the attic, she quickly gathers her friends, who happily agree to form a secret society after learning about the boys' club, called the "Black Wizards." Naming themselves the "Stealthy Prowlers," the girls begin a series of fun and interesting challenges demonstrating their curiosity and the strength of their friendship and camaraderie.
