Summary

"The History of Chivalry" by G. P. R. James is a work that takes you back to medieval times to examine the rules and values that knights lived by. It looks at how chivalry started, aiming to explain what it really meant and how it affected people, especially during the Crusades. It talks about how chivalry wasn't just a set of rules, but a way of life that pushed knights to be brave, protect the defenseless, and fight for what's right when the world was full of disorder. This book starts off by trying to define chivalry, looking at its complicated beginnings and how it fit into the real world of the Middle Ages, as it tries to give a clear picture of this important code of conduct.
