Summary

"Westy Martin in the Yellowstone" by Percy Keese Fitzhugh follows Boy Scout Westy Martin and his pals, Warde Hollister and Ed Carlyle, on a trip to Yellowstone National Park where they meet a funny stranger named Mr. Madison C. Wilde who pokes fun at their scouting skills. The boys start their adventure on a train, trading jokes with Mr. Wilde, who makes them wonder if they're really ready for the wild. Westy, annoyed by Wilde's doubts, becomes determined to show he's a capable scout; however, after being abandoned in the unknown wild all alone, they are left to find a way to prove that they actually have the skills needed to survive and that it's not something to joke about. Facing tough situations, Westy questions himself and the important of being prepared, leading to a big adventure that puts his bravery and smarts to the test.
