Summary

"Full-Back Foster" by Ralph Henry Barbour, a novel set in the early 1900's, follows Myron Warrenton Foster as he begins his journey at Parkinson School, a well-known boarding institution for boys. The story opens with Myron's arrival, where his expectations quickly clash reality when he is assigned an unexpected roommate, Joe Dobbins, whose rough attitude is very different than his. Myron's attempts to get a single room are thwarted by a registration error. Over the opening of the story, the relationship between Myron and Joe changes as Myron's original dislike for Joe transforms amidst their adventures at the school. As Myron deals with identity, adjusting to expectations, and the high-stakes world of school football, the scene is set for his personal growth and a series of exciting escapades.

About the Author

Ralph Henry Barbour was an American novelist, who primarily wrote popular works of sports fiction for boys. In collaboration with L. H. Bickford, he also wrote as Richard Stillman Powell, notably Phyllis in Bohemia. Other works included light romances and adventure.
